As PV module’s output is directly proportional to incident sunlight on it, any type of obstacles causing shading effects prohibiting the sunlight falling on PV modules, even a small amount, can reduce the output drastically and in some cases shut down production completely.

Most modules are manufactured with built-in bypass diodes that can help to reduce the effects of partial shading, but even a shaded row of cells can drastically reduce the overall output of the module. Thus impact of shading requires careful site planning and design considerations for solar PV systems.

We provide complete site assessment predicting a shade-free solar window from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (“ solar time” for all days/months of the year) throughout the year from various obstructions—such as tall trees, nearby buildings, roof dormers, chimneys, etc. using most up-to-date tools and techniques to facilitate optimum designing.

Solar panels generally require very little maintenance since there are no moving parts. A few times a year, the panels should be inspected for any dirt or debris or bird droppings, etc. that may collect on them. Assuming an average family consumes 120 units (kwh) of energy every month. If we assume current unit price @Rs. 6/kwh, then total monthly bill will be 120 x 6 = Rs. 720.00.

Now, to produce 120 units per month, the family requires 1 kw solar power generating system that generates on an average 4 units daily. It will cost about Rs. 1,00,000.00 (1 Lac). Considering 30% govt. subsidy, it will come down to Rs. 70,000.00 (seventy thousand only).

By using solar, electricity bills saved per month = Rs. 720.00 and yearly (10 months assuming 300 days of available clear sunlight) = Rs. 7200.00

So, annual savings in electricity bills = Rs. 7200.00

Return of investment by savings in electricity bills = 70,000/7200 = Roughly 9 years. After that get free electricity for another 15-16 years.

So, total savings over a period next 15 years = 7200 x 15 = Rs. 1,08,000.00

Total savings from day 1, over a period 25 years = 7200 x 25 = Rs. 1,80,000.00

**Actual savings will be higher if we consider rising unit cost.

It is clearly evident that by investing Rs. 70,000.00 today, the family saves a total of Rs. 1,80,000.00 over a period of 25 years.
